Coffeyville, KS – October 2024 — The Midland Theater Foundation is thrilled to announce a generous $100,000 matching challenge from the Pratt Family Charitable Fund. This remarkable commitment from longtime supporters Bill and Stacy Pratt will match every dollar donated to the Midland Theater Foundation’s Capital Campaign, up to $100,000. This is the second $100K matching program the Pratts have sponsored as a demonstration of their commitment to the Midland project.
The matching campaign aims to raise vital funds for the Auditorium—the final project within the historic Midland Theater. For every $1 donated, the Pratt Family Charitable Fund will contribute an additional $1 doubling the impact of each contribution with a goal to complete the challenge by the end of 2024. This challenge comes at a pivotal moment for the Midland Theater Foundation as the community works tirelessly to restore this historical theater, which has been a cherished venue in Coffeyville since the late 1920s.
“We believe the reopening of the Midland Theater has the potential to reignite the life and culture of downtown Coffeyville,” said Bill Pratt. “So many of us have fond memories of the Midland, and it is exciting to realize the Foundation is now well on its way to bringing the Midland Theater back to life. Stacy and I are honored to support the campaign and encourage others to join us in this effort.”
The Midland Theater has made tremendous strides over the past year, with the successful reopening of the Front of the House and the recent restoration of the stage bringing the theater closer than ever to completion. After years of hard work and dedication, the finish line is finally in sight. This matching challenge will be the key to unlocking the final phase and beginning work within the Auditorium—the true heart of the theater.
“This is more than a building—it’s where generations of families have come together to experience the magic of movies, music, and live performances,” said Lisa Scheck, President of the Midland Theater Foundation. “With the support of our generous donors and now the incredible matching challenge from the Pratt Family Charitable Fund, we are closer than ever to reopening the auditorium and making new memories.”
The Midland Theater Foundation invites the entire community to join this effort. Whether you’re able to give $5 or $5,000, every dollar will be doubled and help bring this historic space back to life. The launch of this campaign has perfect timing as the Coffeyville Area Community Foundation (CACF) prepares for their impactful “Match Day” that will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The CACF remains a steadfast partner to The Midland Theater Foundation and continues to provide invaluable guidance and support as they continue their “Road to Victory.”
The Foundation hopes to reach the $100,000 matching goal by December 31, 2024. “Together, we can bring the lights back on at the Midland and ensure it continues to be a place of magic, connection, and community for future generations,” Scheck added.
